Today, for the first time, we publish an analysis of precious metal prices not on our facebook profile, but on the Unimetal Recycling website – in a specially designated tab for this purpose. From today, analysis will appear here every week.

If you want to be up to date with precious metal courses, which are not only found in car catalysts, be sure to follow our website and you will not miss anything. If on the other hand you need to get quick information about the current situation on the precious metals market and currency exchange rates, we leave your „Exchange rates” tab with the current quotations at your disposal.

We invite you to visit us, meanwhile, let’s get back to the weekly analysis.

In the period 29/12/2018 – 04/01/19, platinum was growing all the time. The minimum price was observed at the very beginning – December 29, when an ounce of this metal cost only USD 788. Shortly after the weekend, on Monday the price has already risen to USD 801 / ounce, and the further development of events has made us very happy. The price (except Tuesday) floated up until January 4. However, the biggest increase was recorded at the end of the week. Then the jump amounted to USD 25.6 (3.19%!). In total, a 40-dollar increase was recorded throughout the entire week. We rarely see such a situation on the precious metal market. Undoubtedly, it was a favorable week for platinum.

The situation of palladium did not look different. There was also a significant increase here. The week began gently. An ounce of palladium was worth 1 180.50 USD. Already after the weekend, the price rose by 17 dollars. Tuesday brought a slight decline similar to the platinum situation, but from Wednesday to the end of the week the chart was pushed up. Also in this case, Friday turned out to be the most favorable day for quotations. Throughout the past week, the ounce has risen in value by as much as $ 67.

Another precious metal that occurs in considerable amounts in car catalysts is rhodium. Here the situation does not look so optimistic. After last year’s fall in the family quotations, which took place on 14.12. – 21/12, the situation of this metal has not improved. The price of 21 December last year – 2300 USD / oz was maintained until 4 January 2019. Let’s just remind you that just a month ago, on December 5, the ounce of the family was worth US $ 2,435, up to $ 135 more than it was at the moment. We are waiting therefore for better times for this noble element. We will keep you up to date on the current situation.

The value of gold increased for the vast majority of the week. The situation lasted from Friday, December 28 until Thursday, January 3. The initial exchange rate was just under USD 1 277 / ounce. Until Wednesday, a slow but successive jump to USD 1,286.50 / ounce was recorded. On Thursday, however, there was a sharp, sharp increase to the maximum value – USD 1,300 / ounce. We have not seen such a high gold value for more than half a year! After this amount was reached, however, there was a sharp and painful decline, however, the end value of the quotation did not reach the minimum level of the discussed period and the week ended with the price of 1 286 USD / ounce.

In the case of silver, the increase lasted for almost the entire last week. Only on Friday there was a slight drop. On December 28, an ounce cost $ 15.29 / ounce. On Thursday, it was 15.80. The decline from the end of the week, however, did not cause too much loss.

Already in a week on Monday, we invite you to the next article on precious metals.
