Today is Monday, so traditionally a handful of information about last week’s precious metals quotes, which are used in the catalysts we recycle. Both from cars and trucks, buses and even machines. Namely platinum, palladium and rhodium, which have catalytic properties and are involved in the purification of exhaust gases from dangerous substances for our health, such as nitrogen oxides, coal or hydrocarbons.

Recently, a lot has happened. In the previous article we wrote about fluctuations in the platinum course, the palladium record, which on February 15 reached the historic value of 1 412,60 USD / ounce, or the abnormally good condition of the family, which recorded the highest since 2008 price.

How was it this time?

For platinum, the previous week turned out to be very successful. The beginning of the week was a barely noticeable drop, but practically throughout the week the course chart was rising. The price from which platinum came out was just over 808 USD / ounce. On Tuesday and Wednesday it rose to 829.50 USD / ounce. Only Thursday was distinguished by a small, but still falling by 4 dollars / ounce. Friday sealed the success of the last few days and the week was closed with a maximum value of 847 USD / oz. The last time with such a high course of this precious metal we had to do with the end of November. The week can therefore be considered quite successful.

Can we also talk about success in the case of palladium? According to our expectations, the price has gone even further. The last time we could enjoy the record, which was the value of 1 412 USD / ounce. This time, it can be said that the last week has started from this value and this price has only increased in the following days, while palladium has beaten newer value records. Already on Monday, the ounce cost $ 1,433, and that was just the beginning. On Tuesday, another historical rate – 1 456 USD / ounce, which on Wednesday increased to 1 458 USD / ounce. On Thursday, we could see a decline of 17 dollars, but it did not tarnish our satisfaction, because already on Friday there was an increase that fully compensated us. The maximum value of palladium, not only last week but ever, was 1 479.30 USD / ounce. We are sure that we will remember this day for a long time. We can also say that we expect next such records.

Also in the case of the family, we have really good reasons for joy. On February 15, we were able to enjoy a value of just over USD 2,450 / ounce. Until February 18, the price was systematically growing to the value of USD 2,500 / ounce, and on February 20 it reached the value of USD 2,540 / ounce, which it maintained until Friday, February 22. Also in this case, we expect further increases in the chart.

Gold started quite a week with a value of 1 325 USD / ounce. Then we could observe the growth – first mild, to 1330 USD / ounce, then more pronounced to 1 350 USD / ounce on Tuesday 19 February. The middle of the week was extremely successful for all precious metals. Later it was not so spectacular. The chart began to fall, first laboriously on Wednesday, then more violently the next day. After Friday’s small increase, it was possible to close the week with the value of 1 330 USD / ounce.

The silver quotation chart looks even more interesting. Here, first, there was a significant increase – 0.66 USD / ounce (which in the case of this metal is a big difference). Then also a dynamic change in the opposite direction – a decrease of 0.42 USD / oz and another increase, which led to the final exchange rate of 15.88 USD / oz.

As you might have guessed, the increases from the middle of the week had much to do with the drop in the dollar. After the initial, quite good position of this currency, there was a quite significant drop just in the middle of the week, when precious metal prices soared up dynamically. The drop may not have seemed so significant – from 3.8264 to 3.8165, but as you can see it strongly affected the odds, which we could see during the last few days.
