Regulations often change. Especially those related to the subject of waste recycling and environmental protection. You may remember that before 2005, vehicle dismantling stations were obliged to accept only vehicles entirely for cassation. Currently, the regulations allow the acceptance of also individual car parts, about which, despite the passage of time, not everyone knows. This means, therefore, that it is possible to legally sell the used catalyst at such a point. Such a catalyst, just like any part received by the station, will be recycled, which will restore the precious metals contained therein – platinum, palladium and rhodium. Similarly, when selling catalysts for any legally operating purchase, they must be recycled in accordance with applicable regulations.
The above regulations related to the way the dismantling station works is defined in art. 23a of the Act of 20 January 2005 on recycling of end-of-life vehicles. According to this article, every entrepreneur who runs a dismantling station is required to accept some of the passenger cars removed during repairs that are waste, provided that this will not exceed the weight of waste expected to be processed and generated as a result of processing during the year, specified in the permit integrated or other waste management decisions required in connection with the operation of the disassembly station.
The entrepreneur running the dismantling station may charge a fee for accepting a part of passenger cars that are waste, while according to art. 20 para. 1 of the Act of 27 May 2015 amending the act on recycling of end-of-life vehicles and certain other acts, the entrepreneur operating the disassembly station is required to adjust the integrated permit or other decision regarding waste management required in connection with running the disassembly station to the regulations joints within three years of its entry into force, i.e. within three years from 1 January 2016.
We would also like to remind you that the owner of the disassembly station is obliged to have an entry in the register of entities introducing products, products in packaging and waste management – popularly known as the BDO register.
